Valencia vs Atletico Madrid
Competition: La Liga
Match date: 04 October 2014
Kick Off Time:  - 16:30  GMT

Both Valencia and Atletico Madrid will be looking to climb to the top position in la Liga standings when the two sides take on each other at Estadio de Mestalla on day seven of the new Primera Division campaign.

Valencia mean business. The club owners added several top-class players to the squad in the summer transfer window and they certainly have high hopes for the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign. Valencia do not take part in European competitions and that could prove to be their advantage over their rivals, speaking of the race for a place in the Champions League. Nuno Espirito Santo’s shared the spoils with Real Sociedad at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta in their last league fixture, with the team putting an end to their impressive four-match winning run. However, los Che are still unbeaten in the 2014/2015 la Liga campaign and they are surely capable of making life difficult for defending champions Atletico Madrid. It is well known that Valencia are a real force to be reckoned with at home and I believe that they will avoid defeat in Saturday’s clash at Estadio de Mestalla. A man to watch in the home side will be Paco Alcacer, who has netted four goals to date.

Alvaro Negredo is definitely out of contention, while Pablo Piatti returned to training. Nuno Espirito Santo has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Atletico Madrid game.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Alves – Barragan, Mustafi, Otamendi, Gaya – Parejo, Fuego – Gil, Gomes, Rodrigo – Alcacer.

Atletico Madrid are eager to continue where they left last season. Los Rojiblancos are after their second consecutive la Liga title and Diego Simeone’s men are still unbeaten in the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign. At the weekend Atletico Madrid outclassed Sevilla (4-0) and, as a result, the capital club climbed to third position in the standings. In midweek los Rojiblancos recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Italian giants Juventus and they will be looking to build on the triumph when they take on Valencia at Estadio de Mestalla. Diego Simeone’s team do not seem to be hit by Diego Costa’s departure and there is every chance the capital club will once again fight for la Liga title. As before, Atletico Madrid look solid at the back this term and, taking everything into account, I do not believe that we are about to see a high-scoring affair in Valencia.

Mario Mandzukic picked up a knock in the 1-0 win over Juventus, but he should be available for selection. Mario Suarez, though, is unlikely to feature as he is struggling with a muscle injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Moya – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Ansaldi – Tiago, Gabi, Koke, Turan – Raul Garcia, Mandzukic.
